What Is Weighted Sterling?
The Silver Part
Weighted sterling is genuine .925 sterling silver — the shell of the item is real, hallmarked silver. The stamp will say Sterling, .925, or Ster, and it is authentic.
The Problem
The inside is filled with pitch, plaster, resin, or cement — added for weight and stability. That filler must be removed before the silver can be refined, which requires labor most buyers won't absorb. As a result, most dealers simply refuse weighted sterling.
What We Pay
Faulcon Enterprises pays a flat $15.00 per pound for accepted weighted sterling. Because filler adds weight without adding silver value, the flat rate reflects the real recoverable silver content.

How to Identify Weighted Sterling
The most common stamp — 'Sterling' plus 'Weighted' on the same piece
British and alternative term for the same thing — sterling with internal filler
W.B. stands for Weighted Base; common on candlestick bases
Most weighted pieces have felt or baize glued to the bottom concealing the filler opening
If a small candlestick feels surprisingly heavy, there is almost certainly filler inside

Arrange Drop-Off
Once approved, we coordinate collection — either directly or through SAHD Metal Recycling as a drop point.
Get Paid
Items are weighed and you receive $15.00 per pound for all accepted pieces.
Do not bring weighted sterling to SAHD Metal Recycling without prior photo approval. SAHD handles silver plate only. Weighted sterling is a separate transaction managed entirely by Faulcon Enterprises. Staff at SAHD will direct you to this page if you arrive with weighted sterling.
